1- We believe that a stunning hardwood floor can be enjoyed without decimating important forests in the world’s developing countries. To that end we use only hardwood lumber harvested in renewable fashion according to the guidelines of the P.E.F.C. (Pan European Forestry Council), and/or the F.S.C. (Forestry Stewardship Council). Our Early American and Classics Collections and the LEED Projects portion of our Hospitality Page are available with F.S.C. Chain of Custody Certificates for LEED projects
Our Chateau Napoleon and Metalesque Collections are available with P.E.F.C. certification.
2- We believe that a sophisticated hardwood floor does not need to negatively impact the indoor environment and cause long term health problems for those living in that space. Nor does it need to contribute to the aggregate emissions that we expel into our atmosphere each day. To that end we use Water Based Polyurethane finishes with very low VOC* emissions. We also use U.V.Cured Polyurethane, Natural European Oil, and French Wax Finishes which emit low or zero VOC emissions. We also have zero Formaldehyde content in all of our Collections.
3- The adhesives used to glue down hardwood flooring normally emit moderate to high levels of V.O.C.s. We have available for installations local to the Los Angeles area adhesives that emit no V.O.C.s. * Volatile Organic Compounds that are linked to various health problems as they “off-gas” while curing over time. |
