THE LONG LOST LOGS OF ASIA: Elephant Logging Recovery Program  — Throughout South East Asia we have discovered long ago abandoned hardwood logs, discarded during logging efforts in centuries past.  Some even have World War bullet holes! They were considered too “imperfect” for the European hardwood market of the day, since they were not completely free of knots and color variations.  Today, these exact grades are our most highly prized! We non invasively reclaim these logs with the aid of local protected elephants (who are well paid in mangoes!)  It is truly amazing to watch an elephant effortlessly lift and transport a half ton log with its trunk! See Video  We then make these logs into beautiful hardwood flooring. No new trees have to be felled, and these logs are aged and very hard, making for great hardwood floors!
