1. We believe that a stunning hardwood floor can be enjoyed without decimating important forests in the world’s developing countries.
To that end we only use hardwood lumber harvested in renewable
fashion according to the guidelines of the PEFC (Pan European
Forestry Council), and/or the F.S.C. (Forestry Stewardship Council)
Our Classic Urethanes, Early American, Precious Metal, and Reclaimed American Barnwood series all come with F.S.C. Chain of Custody Certificates for LEED projects.
2. We believe that a sophisticated hardwood floor does not need to negatively impact the indoor environment and cause long term health problems for those living in that space. Nor does it need to contribute to the aggregate emissions that we expel into our atmosphere each day. To that end we use Water Based Polyurethane finishes with very low VOC* emissions. We also use U.V.Cured Polyurethane and Natural European Oil Finishes which emit zero VOC emissions. We also have zero Formaldehyde content in our products.
The adhesives used to glue down hardwood flooring normally emit moderate to high levels of V.O.C. emissions. We have available Next Generation Modified Silane adhesive which emits zero harmful V.O.C.s. This is a brand new technology! Our group holds the U.S. distribution rights, and believes strongly in this clean new product.
* Volatile Organic Compounds that are linked to various health problems as they “off-gas” while curing over time.
