INSECT INFESTATION DANGERS

All solid hardwood flooring is in danger of Powder Post Beetle infestations.  These wood munching little critters are native to the growing regions of most of the American hardwood species used for hardwood flooring.  Once they burrow into the wood and lay their eggs, it is impossible to detect their presence.  They are not always eliminated in the kiln drying stage, nor always by fumigation at the lumber yard, nor always in the manufacturing process!  We have found them at times in almost all of the domestic wood species.  Should they be present in the hardwood flooring that is installed in your home, then according to their life cycle within 18 months they will hatch, eat exit holes in your floor, and escape into your indoor environment.  At the very least, the beetles will need to be found and killed, and the affected planks replaced and refinished.  In the case of a large scale infestation,  the entire floor would need to be replaced, and the home fumigated.  We don’t feel that our Customers need to play Russian Roulette with such a major purchase.  Here at Zumaya,  we treat every inch of every plank with methods that kill the eggs, larvae, and adults dead!  We guarantee that you will never suffer an infestation of Powder Post Beetles in any of our products within 18 months of your purchase or we will send you the same quantity of hardwood flooring again free of charge!
